A big ride
It was such a great day today, and Brian was able to look after Ella, so off I went to Kaiaua with my bike. From Kaiaua I took the Auckland Half Ironman (and past NZ Ironman) course up to just past Kawakawa Bay.
Snake Hill - a fast ride down, very slow (6 km/hr at steepest) up!

Great ride. Another one in the bank for Rotorua ... and Tauranga
One day I will do the Akld Half, but it never seems to fit in!! (or I'm just too chicken!!)
Wow!! I'd love to do Akl, but it might be wise to do some less daunting courses!
Ya know Juls I've never found that gate. I'm conscious of it (from reading Hooksie's blurb), but I must've ridden through there a hundred times and I've never actually spotted it. Where exactly is it???
Hi Peter! As you come off the hills back to the Kaiaua Coast, the first bay has a boat ramp with lots of cars and boats, Mr Adams gate is at the southern end of the bay. There is a rock fence as well.
He has just repainted his house, as five older gentlemen were up preparing it when I went past.
It pays not to be going too fast I guess!
Ahh yes, I know that little community. Not sure why but I always thought it (the Adams property and the old IM turn) was closer to Kaiaua but thats still a good 10km+ south. Duh. Got it now...thanks!
